This is a really neat old Plantation Saddle, with the original stirrups,

leathers and a solid tree. Black, with a high pommel and nice stitching on the

seat. Would make a great display piece or possilbly a resoration project. I have

had the leather professionally cleaned and oiled by an old time western

saddlemaker. Includes shipping to any U.S. address.

For Sale: Rare Antique Saddle. Price: $650.

This saddle is an "Original Safety Seat", made by R.N. Applegate. It is 70 to 80 years old. It is all original except for new stirrup and girth leathers and a small patch over a tear. (see photo).

It is in solid rideable condition as is. An unusual feature of this saddle is the break-away stirrup hangers, a feature that was designed and patented by Applegate. In case of a fall, the leathers will break free of the saddle.
